VOLUNTEERING AT HOPE COMMUNITIES

Volunteering is an opportunity to use your own life experiences and skills to help others in the community without expecting to receive a monetary payment.

It means giving of yourself.  Donating of your time. Doing something to better the experience for others, and experiencing life from a different perspective.
It’s giving. Unconditional giving and giving of yourself to make our community a better place by people who just want to help.
Hope Communities have a number of opportunities for individuals or groups to assist us in our mission to create diverse, healthy communities through quality, service-enriched, affordable housing.

Are you interested in using the skills you currently use in your work, or are you looking for something that will give you a break of the every routine.  Are you looking for something that will fulfill your passion to help people?

GUIDELINES FOR VOLUNTEERS

1.    Hope Communities offer several opportunities.  Jobs that suited to your own interests and abilities can be rewarding, but other there could be jobs that give you the opportunity to learn something new.

2.    Realistically estimate the amount of time you have to give. Most volunteer assignments require a minimum of three hours a week. Having made the time commitment, it should be honored.

3.    Arrive at your assignment on time. If you must be absent, call as soon as possible preferably the night before.

4.    You will be provided a written job description, but expect to receive training, guidance and direction from your supervisor.

5.    Orientation sessions may be in a one-on-one or group setting.  If you feel that your time is not spent in a productive way, you should discuss the situation with the person in charge.

6.    Confidentiality and ethical standards are expected.

7.     Ask questions if you do not understand a process or procedure.  Keep communication open.
