Program Description
STRIVE A literacy-based, after-school tutoring program, STRIVE (Students Turning Responsibility Into Valuable Experience) employs teens as tutors for community children in need of extra academic help. Children in 1-5th grade are eligible for tutoring, and high school students are eligible to be tutors. Download the application form if you’re interested in applying, and bring them to your leasing office or the Hope Communities Neighborhood Center (2543 California Street) when you have completed them.
Summer Program For six weeks every summer, youth ages 5-11 are in a Summer Program of literacy, field trips, arts and crafts, recreation, and community service.
School Supply Drive In the fall, school supplies that have been collected for our residents will be distributed. Residents are asked to bring their school supply list and a bag or backpack to carry supplies home in.
RISE Young children learn pre-literacy skills through hands-on activities.
College Fair Every spring Hope Communities plans a college fair for teens. Several college representatives will be in attendance with information on their schools, as well as scholarships and financial aid options.
