Hope Communities was founded in 1980 by a couple living out their faith by leaving the security of their jobs and working in less than favorable neighborhoods, along with a group of citizens concerned about the lack of decent, affordable housing in Denver. Beginning in the historic Five Points neighborhood, in the shadow of downtown, Hope Communities operated a single building of rental units that disadvantaged individuals could afford; almost thirty years later, the organization’s geographic focus has expanded to include the entire Metro Denver area. In addition to rental housing, Hope Communities now offers homes for sale to first-time low-income families, as well as an array of programs and services designed to help residents develop a self-sustaining lifestyle and reach their personal goals. These include adult & youth education, job referrals, discount grocery plans, literacy classes, and much, much more.
